Materials:
Hard cover 1 inch 3 ring binder
Caron Simply Soft yarn (2 white, 1 each blue, green, pink, lavender..or colors of choice)
Size H, G, and F hooks
Yarn needle
Notebook plastic sleeves
Gauge:
9 sts = 2 inches
10 rows = 2 inches
Special Stitch :
Lsc....insert hook in sc below designated st, pull yarn through from back, pull loop up to top of row, finish sc
COVER
R1...With white, ch 80, sc in 2nd ch and next 78, ch 1 turn
R2-3...sc in 79 sts,
(change to desired color in last sc of row, ch 1 turn now and throughout)
R4...sc in first st, Lsc in next st, (sc in next 3 sts, Lsc in next st)rep across, sc in last st
R5...sc across, change to white in last sc
R6...sc in first st, sc in next 2 sts, (Lsc in next st, sc in next 3 sts)rep across
R7...sc across, change to next color in last sc.
R8-61...rep R4 thru 7 alternating colors
Do not fasten off
At this point deside which side you like best, I persoanlly liked the "wrong" side best :o)
Now comes the really hard part....weave in all ends :o(
Switch to F hook and sc in ends of rows, work 3 scs in each corner, switch to G hook and sc across stitches, switch to F hook and sc in ends of rows, switch to G hook and sc across stitches.
Fasten off
INSIDE COVER
R1...With G hook and your "right" side facing you count back from corner st, 36 sts, attach white in 37th st
NOTE:
You may have a couple more stitches than I had...no problem...just fold you work in half and find the center stitch....you will want to leave 4 center stitches unworked (for the rib of the binder)...so you will make your first sc in the 3rd st from your fold.
R2...sc to first corner and skip 2 sts, sc to next corner and skip 2 sts, sc to end and ch 1 turn.
R3-5...rep R2
R6...dc around decreasing in each corner
fasten off
Make a chain long enough to go all around the dc row and be able to be tied together at ends across binder cover.

Rnd1...ch 70, join to first ch without twisting
Rnd 2... sc in 20 chs, 3scs in next ch, sc in next 13 chs, 3 scs in next ch, sc in next 20 chs, 3scs in next ch, sc in last 13 chs, 3sc in last ch, join...do not turn
Rnd 3...ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 20 sts, 3scs in next st, sc in next 15 sts, 3scs in next st, sc in next 22 sts, sc in next 15 sts, sc in next 22 sts, 3 scs in next st, sc in last st, join
Rnd 4...ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 21 sts, 3scs in next st, sc in next 17 sts, 3scs in next st, sc in next 24 sts, sc in next 17 sts, sc in next 24 sts, 3 scs in next st, sc in last st, join
Rnd 5...sc in joining, sk 1 st, (5dc shell in next st, sk 1 st, sc in next st) rep around.
fasten off.
Weave a ribbon of your choice in last sc row before shells
Tie a bow in corner.
Place cover on binder...it will be very tight, work until you have it smooth and pull your ties on the inside and tie at ends.
